About that “Dragon Lady” comment.

The lady is my wife, Susan, who writes Young Adult novels. She wrote one called “Dragon’s Milk” that came out in1990 which is still in print. It was the middle book of a trilogy that is being republished in 2010 as a matched set along with a new dragon novel set in the near future.

The photo at right is from when the "Dragon Lady" and I visited Venice for a fortnight. Susan snapped it as we were waiting for a caffe in a bistro beside a canal one sunny afternoon.  Her new book, Ancient  Strange and Lovely, out in September of 2010 means that I have ot start planning another visit to the city of canals. She's begun work on a story set in Venice and we will have to "go do some research."

Here is a photo of the Father of the Bride. Our PhD candidate daughter took the plunge in mid April of 2010. Kelly and John had friends and family fly into Atlanta from across the USA. It was a joyous and rollicking couple of days for all in attendance. I had overlooked the fact that I was the one that had to make the first toast. Fortunately, I'm not afraid to speak in public...

I'll be in Minnesota instead of Argentina in late September. I let the CEO of one of my consulting clients (Wing Ventures) know that I would not be flying off to Buenos Aries as planned. He immediately asked me to schedule the same week to accompany his executive team back to Cirrus. Cirrus is an aircraft manufacturer. If small single engine airplanes are web 1.0, Cirrus is web 2.0. The Cirrus 4 passenger single engine planes are built of composities and feature the most current navigation and instruent panels available for small aircraft. They have one other unique feature: a parachute for the whole plane should it be needed. Wing Ventures is a flight school that will be headquartered at PDX and train anyone that wants to be a pilot in Cirrus aircraft. In addition, the company will offer some very special trainings along trails of American History.

Buenos Aires has been delayed due to poitical unrest. While waiting in the airport to fly to Atlanta for my daughter's wedding I was casually checking the messages on my Blackberry when I found a request from Ariel asking me to keynote the first Customer Relationship Managment (CRM) conference Americas Impresarial (his company) will be presenting in Argentina.

Ariel is the Marketing Director of the company who, in the fall of 2009, put out an internet call for speakers that understood Marketing, Networking, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and how web 2.0 impacts all that. And, oh yes, they would have to be willing to come speak in Colombia.

So I agreed to speak in Bogota and Medelin in October, 2009. (Great trip--Photos below.) The tricky part was getting from there to Reno, Nevada for the conferrence I was booked into. I was in transit in the neighborhood of 20 hours. I had to change into traveling clothes in a bathroom stall in the airport in Bogota. Now I know why Superman wore his outfit under his street clothes!
